These electronic/digital ideograms have completely taken over how we speak to each other in the modern era and inject a sense of personality and emotion into our messages that normal words cannot do as seamlessly. So this week join Tuong La and Living Emoticons Victoria Lulloff , Kristine Shadid, and Amanda Parker as they communicate and translate their feelings digitally to make a Top 5 Emojis list!

Ground Rules

As we know Emojis are ever changing, this list are our personal lists for the year of 2020
No MSN emoticons (don’t know what those are? Well now we feel old…)
No MSN Winks
Bitmojis do not count
No Custom Emojis that you can create on platforms like Slack, Discord, Twitch etc. (Must be the “standard universal” emojis)
Not differentiating between how a certain platform depicts a certain emoji (ie the heart emoji might be slightly different on iMessage than it does on Facebook etc.) Therefore, while we can mention that one version of the same emoji might look better/worse on another platform, it’s still the same nomination.
Different versions of the same emoji like gender, skin color, hair color are all part of the same nomination
Bonus poinst to emojis that are able to convey emotion in a way that cannot be conveyed by just words
