*drool* Mmm Donuts.

Centuries ago some great innovator came up with punching a hole through fried dough. These dough balls eventually became the familiar ring shape we know today as donuts! Donuts have remained popular not only for it’s versatility, coming in all sorts of flavours and sizes, but also for being a bit of a cultural icon in the comfort food world. This week join Tuong La and Dough-Boyz Jesse Bergen (What We Do in the Basement), Thomas Proles & Kevin Ramberran (Oops All Segments) as they comb through dozens over baker’s dozens worth of fried pastries and come up with a slam DUNKIN’ Top 5 Donuts list.

Ground Rules

• We are going with the following definitions of Donut/Doughnut:

  • Donut definition: a small fried cake of sweetened dough, typically in the shape of a ball or ring.

  • a small cake of sweetened or, sometimes, unsweetened dough fried in deep fat, typically shaped like a ring or, when prepared with a filling, a ball. anything shaped like a thick ring; an annular object; toroid.

• We are not nominating specific donut shop’s version of a donut.  For example: If we nominate “Chocolate” it would just encapsulate the best version of a chocolate donut and not specifically Tim Horton’s Chocolate Donut.
• A danish is not a donut
• If you can argue it’s a donut it’s probably a donut (ie: Fritter)
• Donuts of all shapes and sizes are welcome.
